From
the original home's hodgepodge of bad design and unsound construction,
some positive features were worth preserving. The ocean views, the
sweeping roof and swimming pool that meanders under the living room
wall and into the home were all comforts to build on.
The indoor design theme of
Indonesian wood carvings,
woven fabrics, natural stones
and plants complemented the
owner's existing art and
furniture. Outdoors, a new
japanese garden, which can
be viewed from both sides of
two cool and quiet work
rooms, adds to the house's
simplicity.
